Phillips Partners With Shaun Leane To Launch Online Jewelry Store

Phillips auction house has launched an online jewelry store named “Flawless,” presenting jewels for immediate purchase on the Phillips website. For the unveiling of this private selling platform, Phillips is offering 12 high and fine jewelry creations by British contemporary jewelry designer, Shaun Leane.

For more than 20 years, Shaun Leane has been on the forefront of contemporary jewelry design with creations that combine elegance with an edgy urban vibe. He is perhaps best known for his long partnership with famed fashion designer, Alexander McQueen, where he created large body adornments made of precious materials for fashion runway show that were worn by world-class models and style icons, such as Daphne Guinness, Isabella Blow, Kate Moss and Sarah Jessica Parker.

For this new venture Leane created a dozen items that are being sold on the new Flawless online platform on Phillips website. The website was launched a week ago. Prices for the pieces range from $11,000 to nearly $200,000. The items are made in the Leane esthetic featuring sharp edges, strong color contrasts and smooth curved lines with high-level craftsmanship. The collection includes Leane’s most iconic fine and high jewelry designs, as well as new bespoke pieces, created to mark the 21st anniversary of the House of Shaun Leane.

“I see today’s woman as a romantic warrior, graceful, yet also full of strength, conviction and courage,” Leane said in a statement. “I aim to intensify the power of jewelry and create my jewels to provoke different emotions – confidence, fragility, seduction and protection – and to deliver a sense of inner strength and identity. Above all, I want my jewels to give a woman the freedom to be who she wants to be.”

In addition to the jewels, Phillips is offering a deluxe limited edition of the book, “Shaun Leane,” released in July. It chronicles Leane’s career and featuring essays by gemologist and jewelry historian Joanna Hardy, V&A fashion curator, Claire Wilcox, and jewelry writer, historian and journalist Vivienne Becker. The book, signed by Leane, is limited to 250 copies and is available for $500.

This collaboration between Phillips and Leane will continue into 2021 with a selling exhibition dedicated to his work taking place in London and New York. The dates have yet to be announced.

The inaugural offering on Flawless also includes jewels by other iconic jewelry houses such as Cartier, Chaumet, Mauboussin, Tiffany & Co. and Van Cleef & Arpels.
